"After huge success of « Goodwood 12 » (our first R1200R) who was featured in various Custom Bike magazines and platforms arround the globe, we have decided to build a successor for the ESSENZA Class ( www.essenza-the-essence-of-motorcycles.com ). In Essenza 2016, Goodwood has won 2nd price in Design Jury competition and our top Race-Lady, Ammelie Mooseder raced our goodwood also to the podium and has won 3rd place in driver ranking 2016."
Daniel Weidmann, Owner and General Manager of Stucki 2 Rad & VTR Customs tells us some small-great curiosity about this yet another "monster" really amazingly produced:
"Drawing the outline of the new R1200R, we where all sure about not building a Goodwood II derivative, but rather to go for compelte new shape. Since we are all "dry aged" petrol heads starting our Racing careers in the 80’s, we have quickly find the new story line - we where all influenced by Eddie Lawsons Superbike Kawa Z1000 in the realy 80’s, when customized our old 4 cyl japaneses back at that time. So off we go - Eddie 21 was "born"....(he had No 21 at that time and it ist he "reverse" No of 12 for 1200 ccm)
The overall design idea was Kawasaki Z-style "squared" tabk lines, Z-style tailnbut very, very tiny - paint design should also be easy understandable - KawanZ1000 style, plus big sqaured No. plate at the front, "Kerker" style exhaustnsystem, and as much high end racing parts as possible. So to speak - the firstnwater cooled boxer in Z1000 look.
To get the targeted overall look, we where also clear, that this time we had to "touch" the standrad R1200R airbox and gastank as well, otherwhie we won’t be able to get the "squared" Z look we where hunting for. (on Goodwood 12 Airbox and Gas tank was untouched standard).
Since we do all alloy works in house, wenstarted to build tiny kawa tail first and then airbox and gastank by alloy, of course handmade as well. Touching thenairbox, gave us the freedom to move the speedo/rpm digit unit away from handlebar and integrate it also to the airbox (but 90° turned - meaning new custom made face of speedo).
Biggest challenge was the shape and lines of gastank/airboxnunit. We wanted to get the line as low as possible to get a "very tiny, low and small" bike, but we had to match the overall line given by the subframe and chassis.
As VTR Customs, we also stand for our love to craftmanship - so seatcovering isnhandamde by Yves Knobel and all Logo’s ar handpainted by Johanna Voglesang, paintnjob was done by our "house" paint shop, Freuler in Benken. All of them friend of us having their businesses very close to our location.
The design and handcraftmans ship was aigain very succsessfull presented at the SWISS motorbike show in Ferbruary. So succsessfull, that we are again nominated fort he brand "ESSENZA - The Essence of Motorcycles" class, launched by JörgnLitzenburger (head of Glemseck 101) in 2016. A custom bike contest with a mixture of design concours and sprint races. Only very fewn« privat » bikes are on the starting grid, key bulk in the field of approx. 16 bikes are the big motorbike producers them selfs.
In order to get maximum echo - we are very proud of having Amelie Mooseder (works for BMW Motorrad in Munich) again as pilot for Eddie 21. And this was the reason for a very special gimmick on the bike...... Last year we where having huge media presence beacuse oftnhe very charming and good looking and fast Amelie. Maybe also because she added lipstick every time before she had to move to the starting grid.... But it was allwaysnhad a bit of "hazzle" for her to paint her lips because a proper small mirrornwas missing ("we build race bikes not bath room - dear Amy!" we always madenjokes with her...;-) - So we promised her to add a real make up mirror just fornher if we can get her another year as our pilot. And Swiss never lie - so thenwhite squared piece at the handlebar mount labeled "Amy Special" is flip opennmake up mirror for our "Werksfahrerin"...;-)"
